Psalm 69
/“But as for me, my prayer is to you, O LORD. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness” (v13). The psalms model sincere, powerful prayer for us. Instead of minimizing his pain or trying to cope with it alone, the psalmist confessed that he was drowning in “deep waters” (v2). He admitted to weeping (v3), mistakes (v5), and loneliness (v8, 20), and though he was angry and betrayed, he left vengeance in God’s hands (v24-28).
“You who seek God, let your hearts revive” (v32). Though we are up to our necks in trouble (v1), God’s “saving faithfulness” will never let us drown.
