Acts 8:1-25

“Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money” (v18).  Simon, who had been an important person in Samaria, saw the reality of this new spiritual power (v13) and wanted it for himself and wanted this new power for himself.  But Peter recognized that using the Spirit’s power for personal profit or ego was a sign of spiritual bondage and “wickedness” (v22).

We can’t separate the power of the Kingdom from the values of the Kingdom, such as humility, love, and servanthood.  God pours out His power not for our glory, but for the glory of Jesus Christ.
