Acts 17
/“So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day” (17:17). Paul preached the gospel to everyone, everywhere: synagogue, marketplace, or public arena. He was in Athens in order to escape persecution, and he seized the opportunity to preach about “Jesus and the resurrection” (v18). Paul used Greek ideas and poetry as a starting point in this famous city of philosophy (v22-28), but his message was the same: repentance and faith in the resurrected Jesus (v30-32).
“Yet He is actually not far from each one of us” (v27). In Jerusalem, Athens, and our neighborhoods, God is still communicating the love and truth expressed perfectly in Jesus (Heb 1).
