I Chronicles 11-12

“We are yours, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you" (12:8).  David was famous for his own exploits, and he was nearly as famous for the loyalty he inspired among his “mighty men.”  His three best warriors broke through enemy lines to bring him a drink from his favorite well, and so many joined his band that it was “a great army, like the army of God” (12:22).

Made in God’s image, we want more than food and shelter; we seek purpose.  Jesus, our true Shepherd and Prince (11:2), calls us to lose our lives for His sake, and find everything.
