I Chronicles 8-10

“He broke faith with the LORD in that he did not keep the command of the LORD, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance” (10:13).  The Chronicles retells some of the highlights of Israel’s history, emphasizing the rise and fall of famous families and the ongoing role of the priests.  King Saul, for example, missed out on being part of God’s covenant blessings because he “broke faith,” just as Israel as a nation rejected God and was exiled to Babylon (9:1).

Israel failed, as all humans do, but God was faithful to the point of sending of His own Son.  “And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise” (Galatians 3:29).
