Proverbs 7
/“Keep my teaching as the apple of your eye” (v2). The proverbs urge us to write God’s words on the “tablet of your heart” (v3), so that we are alert to every destructive, deceptive scheme of the enemy. Real temptation is attractive, like the adulterous woman who entices with flattering words and exciting promises (v16-21). Yet instead of finding joy, satisfaction, and freedom, sin leads us into a trap, and we are prisoners (v23). Every step away from God is a step toward death (v27).
“Keep my commandments and live” (v2). God’s Word gives us safeguards, direction, and purpose, so that we don’t destroy our own lives by self-indulgence.
