Psalm 39
/“Hear my prayer, O LORD … For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers” (v12). The psalms teach us to have a proper perspective on our lives. Our years on earth are “a mere breath” (v5) in light of eternity. When sin, suffering, or unexpected turmoil (v6) makes us face how fragile we are, we don’t have to despair. We know “our end” (v4): in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, redeemed, and safe forever.
“My hope is in you” (v7). We are sojourners in this world, but not homeless. Jesus has made us citizens of God’s eternal kingdom.
