Deut 29-30

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life” (30:19).  Moses declared that the people of Israel had a choice.  God had chosen them, rescued them, and dwelled among them, and He had given them instructions about daily life and worship.  Loving God and obeying Him would lead to well-being and security (v19), while following idols would lead to death.

“You will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live” (v6).  God calls us not just to obedience or submission, but to love Him as He loves us.
