Luke 13

“When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your disability” (v12).  When Jesus healed a woman who had been bent over for 18 years, the synagogue ruler could not rejoice, because “work” had been done on the Sabbath.  The leader had forgotten that Sabbath laws were intended to bring blessing and rest to people, not to keep them bound.   Jesus’ healing demonstrated the kindness of God and the goodness of His commands.

We obey God’s commands not to look good to others, nor to justify ourselves, but as an act of faith, believing that He loves us and wants what is best for us.
