Psalm 40

“Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie” (v4).  The “miry bog” (v2) of trouble can make us feel insecure, and in those moments we are tempted to reach for comfort, help, and distraction in the wrong places.  But the psalmist tells us that when we turn to God and wait patiently for His answer, He responds and makes our feet secure (v2).

Our fears and insecurities don’t have to lead us into sin.  We can put our trust in God and wait for Him; His mercy and kindness are “more than can be told” (v5,11).
