Psalm 41

“By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me” (v11).  The psalmist mentions three deadly enemies: sickness (v8), sin (v4), and broken relationships (v9).  His body was weak, his soul was troubled because of his guilt, and the person he would normally count on, “the close friend in whom I trusted,” had turned his back.  The psalmist turned to the One who never leaves us, never fails us. “"O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me" (v4).

Because Jesus died and rose again, our worst enemies – sin and death - will not triumph over us.  Now and for eternity, “God is for us” (Psalm 56:9).
