Joshua 15-16

“What do you want?” She said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have given me the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water” (15:19).   Aschsah was apparently a lot like her father, Caleb, who also boldly demanded good land (ch 14).  Aschsah received what she asked for (as did Caleb), and these springs of water became part of her family’s inheritance.  In both cases, they asked because they eagerly desired something good and were confident that the giver would listen.

“Ask, and it will be given you” (Matt 7).  Jesus taught his followers to be bold in their prayers, confident that our Father is both generous and wise in answering.
