Judges 8-10
/“We have sinned; do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please deliver us this day” (10:15). Without a king or a temple to unite them, the Israelite tribes descended into chaos. Gideon won a great victory, giving the land years of peace, but he did not start a revival, and the generation after him worshipped idols. Israel needed much more than deliverance from a foreign army; they needed their own hearts to be transformed and their idols torn down.
“So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord” (8:16). We face many challenges, but the most important battle is to turn from our idols and serve the Lord.
