John 10

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (v10).  How do we distinguish between the true spirit of Jesus and teachings, leaders, or forms or religion that are false?  Jesus explained that he comes to us straightforwardly, “by the door,” not in manipulation or secrecy (v2).  We recognize his voice, which is loving and full of authority.  He died for us, and therefore his love is self-giving and sacrificial, not harmful, burdensome or selfish (v7-18). 

"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand” (v28).  The Good Shepherd will never leave us alone.
