John 7

“If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority” (v17).  Jesus confronted many challenges to his authority, and there was “much muttering about him” (v12, v40) as people grappled with his identity.  Jesus’ own brothers (v4) wanted him to be more public, yet Jesus was cautious until the last day of the Feast of Booths in Jerusalem.  Then, he cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink” (v37).

Jesus didn’t force anyone to accept him.  He still offers living water – salvation and renewal, grace and transformation – to those who deeply desire a new life.
