Proverbs 11

“The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward” (v18).  The proverbs teach us about what has real value in this life.  Those who pursue their desires without reference to God receive “deceptive wages,” things that in the end bring death, not satisfaction. God wants us to beware of “false balances”: choices we make that seem right at the time but end up costing us everything (v1).  On judgment day, what we have earned on earth counts for nothing (v4).

“The desire of the righteous ends only in good” (v23).  God Himself is our “sure reward,” and when we invest our lives in His purposes, we will be satisfied.
