Ruth 3-4

“Then Boaz said, “The day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you also acquire Ruth the Moabite, the widow of the dead, in order to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance” (4:5).  Israelite law protected lines of inheritance, so a man who married his relative’s widow raised up sons in the dead man’s name.  Most men would not want to do this, so Boaz announced Ruth’s situation with no fear of competition.  What other men saw as an obligation, Boaz saw as his blessing (3:10).

Like Ruth, Boaz did what was right in God’s eyes even at risk to himself.  But in doing so, they both found joy beyond their dreams.
