II Chronicles 7

“For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever" (v3).  During Solomon’s reign, when all Israel was convinced that God was good, kind, and powerful, they pledged to obey Him (v3,10).  God invited them, once again, to renew their covenant with Him and enter into His blessings.  Even when they sinned and suffered the consequences, God promised, if they prayed for forgiveness, He would heal their land (v14).  His “steadfast love” and invitation to relationship would never change.

Both Israel as a nation and King Solomon himself, like all people, were unfaithful to God’s ways.  But God’s lovingkindness does not change; His invitation to repentance and salvation is still open.
