Psalm 79
/“Let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low” (v8). The psalms teach us to rely on God’s compassion, even when our own sins have caused our problems (v8). God’s relationship with Israel showed His mercy to the world: saving them when they didn’t deserve it, guiding them, continually offering hope and forgiveness to the repentant. “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name's sake!” (v9).
“But we are your people, the sheep of your pasture” (v13). We call out to God in faith because He is our Good Shepherd, and His love never fails.
