Psalm 134-135

“For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession” (v4).  Because of Christ, all believers (Jews and Gentiles) can join in the psalmist’s joyful praise that God chose us before we chose Him.  The psalms celebrate God as the Creator whose will in accomplished -  “whatever He pleases, He does” (v6) – and His will is to redeem, defend, and bless His people (v7-14).  God is not “the work of human hands”, and salvation is His idea, not ours.

God will “vindicate his people and have compassion on His servants” (v14).  In Christ, we have been adopted into God’s family and share all the blessings of His love and protection (Eph 1:4-5).
