Psalm 139

“O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar” (v1-2).  The psalmist delighted in God’s intimate knowledge of him.  He was reassured that his uniqueness was God’s own plan: “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb” (v13).  God’s loving attention and care for him was “too wonderful” (v6) to really grasp; it was overwhelming.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts … lead me in the way everlasting” (v23-24).  God already knows us, but when we voluntarily open our hearts and cooperate with Him, we are changed.
