Joel 1-3

“Yet even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart" (2:12).  Joel warned that a terrible disaster, God’s judgment, was looming over Israel and the world (1:15).  “For the day of the LORD is coming; it is near” (2:1).  However, God is “gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster” (2:13).  Joel preached that God’s desire was to save people and pour out His Spirit.

“I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…” (2:28).  Instead of the destruction we deserve, God sent His own Son to save us and to pour out His Spirit among us.
