Micah 1-3
/“I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin” (3:8). The prophet Micah rebuked Israelite leaders and those with power who “detest justice” and “build Zion with blood” (3:9-10). Instead of valuing God’s ways, their main motivation was profit. Their “priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money;” yet, they were convinced that they were safe and that God was on their side (3:11).
The people of Judah thought, "No disaster shall come upon us” (3:11), but Jerusalem became “a heap of ruins” (v12). More than religious identity, God desires us to act with justice, mercy, and holiness.
