I John 1-2
/“It is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining” (2:8). John and others proclaimed “that which we have seen and heard” (1:1-3); Jesus Christ, the Light that has come into the world. John said that how we react to that Light reveals whether or not we are God’s children. Jesus is our advocate when we stumble (2:1), but we can’t claim friendship with God and deliberately pursue darkness (1:6).
The true Light, the living Son, is “already shining,” and every day we are called to reject sin and walk in closer fellowship with Him (1:7).
