Psalm 140

“Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet. The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net” (v4-5).  The psalmist knew that his life was constantly in danger from enemies that he couldn’t control, who secretly planned evil and stirred up conflict (v2).  He prayed that God would guard him and protect him from the traps he couldn’t see.

“O LORD, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle” (v7).  God is our defense against all enemies, especially the spiritual battles (Eph 6) against temptation, fear, and doubt.
