Zechariah 1-3
/“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD” (v10). The prophet Zechariah preached to the Jews who had returned from Babylonian exile and were rebuilding Jerusalem and its temple. Zechariah reminded them that their ancestors had been punished for unfaithfulness, and God was looking for His people to repent, not just re-populate their land. God’s promise was not about politics, but about actually dwelling among them, and even including “many nations” in His redeemed family (2:11).
“I will be the glory in her midst” (2:5). When God is among us by His Spirit, every place is like Jerusalem’s temple, a shining light to the world.
