Psalm 94
/“Rise up, O judge of the earth!” (v2). The psalmist asked God to take “vengeance” on those who attack the innocent, “the widow and the sojourner … the fatherless” (v1,6). God sees everything (v9), and His judgments are perfect. The problem with taking vengeance into our own hands is that we are not totally innocent; our feet slip, too (v18). Therefore, we depend on God’s loving mercy to hold us up, and we leave the ultimate judgment of others in His capable hands.
Like the psalmist, “the cares of our heart are many” (v19). Our deep comfort is that our King is coming, and His justice, goodness, and peace will rule the earth (v23).
