Job 29-30

“Oh, that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me … when the friendship of God was upon my tent” (v2-4). Job missed his pre-disaster life.  His children were near him, he had everything he needed, and he was a leader among the men of his city (v4-10).  Job used his wealth and influence to help others (v15), and people listened to his advice (v21).  Now, Job accused God, “You have turned cruel to me” (30:21).

The surprising truth about Job’s story is that, even in the disasters, God was present and looked on Job in friendship.  Job’s challenge was to trust God despite the darkness (30:26).
