Psalm 101

“I will walk with integrity of heart within my house” (v2).  The psalmist recognized that the choice to follow the Lord begins in our private life: in our hearts and homes.  It was not enough for the psalmist to proclaim his faith in the Temple.  He also determined to “not set any worthless thing” before his eyes and to avoid the company of those who “fall away” or have perverse hearts (v3-4).  He determined to make his closest friends those who were faithful, instead of sharing his life with those who were deceitful (v7).

“I will sing of steadfast love and justice” (v1).  Our public worship should match the choices we make privately to honor the Lord.
