Psalm 102

“Let this be recorded for a generation to come … from heaven the LORD looked at the earth, to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die” (v18-21).  The psalmist described himself as a “lonely sparrow” whose short life “passes away like smoke” (v2,7); he mingled his tears with his drink.  Yet he did not despair; he wanted future generations to know that in the midst of trouble, God is our Savior.  He sets people free so that they may “declare in Zion the name of the Lord” (v21).

“You will remain” (v26).  Our days on earth will pass quickly, but God’s kingdom remains.  In Him, we “dwell secure” (v28) forever.
