Psalm 96

“Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” (v2-3).  The psalms often tell us to declare God’s glory among “the nations”.  God’s glory includes His wonderful character – He is not silent or unpredictable like an idol, but the good Creator of heaven and earth (v5).  As more people hear and receive the gospel, a new song is sung by the “families of the peoples” (v1,7).

We are to “say among the nations, The Lord reigns!” because it is good news (v10). All God’s creatures and His redeemed people worship Him in the “splendor of holiness” (v9, 11).
