Song of Solomon 1-2
/"Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone” (2:10-11). This royal marriage-poem highlights the romantic, passionate aspects of human love, while also giving us a unique view of how God invites His people into relationship with Him. The groom invites his bride to “come away” and enjoy springtime and fruitfulness with him, just as the Lord calls His people to leave behind their old lives – winter - and enter a new, abundant life with Him.
“The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come …” (2:12). Because of Christ, our winter has past, and spring has begun.
