Job 36-37

“God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things that we cannot comprehend” (37:5).  Though Elihu joined in the false accusations against Job (ch34), he also had a great vision of God’s authority and creative power.  “By the breath of God ice is given … he loads thick clouds with moisture” (v10-11).  Elihu’s faith was in the awesome yet distant Creator: “The Almighty – we cannot find Him” (37:23).  Yet for Job, this wasn’t enough; he cried out for God to hear and respond (31:35).

Job longed for more because we were created to know God personally, as the psalmist’s testimony declares: “He sent from on high … He rescued me, because He delighted in me” (Psalm 18:19).
