I Corinthians 12
/“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” (v27). Together we form Christ’s body, the church, and within that unity we each play an essential role. The Spirit of God empowers us “for the common good” (v7); our gifts are for one another’s benefit. The public gifts should not be given more honor; “on the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable” (v22). We can never say to any fellow believer “I have no need of you” (v21), and we suffer and rejoice together (v26).
If we were all the same, “where would the body be?” (v19). In Christ, our diversity of personalities, gifts, and roles join together to glorify God.
