Isaiah 9-12

“They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (11:9).  When Israel was surrounded by violent armies, Isaiah declared that they should keep their eyes on God’s good, redemptive plan for the world.  The Spirit-anointed One would come to bring true peace (11:2), not just to Israel, but to “the nations” walking in darkness (9:2).  Salvation would be accomplished by “the zeal of the Lord” (9:7).

“With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (12:3).  We experience joy in Christ now, and we wait for the day when “the wolf shall dwell with the lamb” (11:6).
