Isaiah 40
/“The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable” (v28). The prophet Isaiah called for Israel to turn away from idols and false supports (like Egypt) and recognize the majesty of God. He is not only powerful, but generous: “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength” (v29). He reaches down to the humble and offers comfort, forgiveness, and peace (1-2).
God’s promise is that “they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength” (v31). When we rely on Him instead of ourselves, we will “run and not grow weary.”
