Jeremiah 14-15

“Though they fast, I will not hear their cry, and though they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I will not accept them” (14:12). Through Jeremiah, God sent Israel the message that they must suffer the consequences of their rebellion.  They had ignored His calls to repent until it was too late; Judah was already experiencing drought and would be invaded.  False prophets were telling lies about peace (v13-14), but Jeremiah told the truth.  His generation would lose their peaceful, prosperous homeland.

“We acknowledge our wickedness … we set our hope on you” (14:20-22).  Real repentance is more than the fear of punishment.  It is a true change of heart and commitment to walk in a new direction.
