Jeremiah 49-50

“The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them. All who took them captive have held them fast; they refuse to let them go. Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name. (50:33-34).  Even though the Israelites were banished from the land due to their own sin, God showed Himself to be their Redeemer.  No empire, neither Babylon nor Persia, could hold them when God decided it was time to free them.

“He will surely plead their cause” (v34).  No matter who or what oppresses us, our Redeemer is strong.  He has rescued us from sin and death, and His victory is ours.
