Matthew 9-10

“Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved" (9:17).  Jesus came to bring “new wine” – the resurrection power of His own kingdom.  While sinners and the sick received him (9:10, 28), and Matthew left everything to follow him (9:9), the religious leaders of were concerned that he would destroy the old wineskins – their settled religious culture.

Jesus doesn’t fit into our existing, comfortable assumptions.  Butf we are willing to accept him, he brings new life by “teaching …proclaiming the gospel… healing every disease” (9:35).
