John 9:1-12
/“It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him” (v3). The people of Jesus time wanted to know the “why” behind suffering, just as we do, and especially they wanted someone to blame. But Jesus said that instead, they should be looking for the “works of God” that would be displayed through the situation (v3). Further, Jesus urged his listeners to join in the good things that God was doing “while it is day” (v4).
“I am the light of the world” (v5). We can’t always figure out the “why” of present circumstances, yet we can share in the good things God is doing to overcome the darkness.
