Judges 7

God pruned Gideon’s army “lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me’” (v2).  Instead of giving Gideon extra weapons or people, God shrunk the number of warriors so that the people could have no doubt that salvation was his work and not by human effort.  Then, again to show His power, God caused the enemy to fear even before the battle began (v14).  His aim was for people to learn to trust Him.

God desires to help us, but His way of achieving victory isn’t like ours.  He wants us to learn to depend on Him, cooperate with Him, and give Him glory in all things.
