Genesis 46

"I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation” (v3).  Jacob/Isaac must have been shocked that God was directing him to leave the Promised Land.  Abraham and Isaac had settled there because of God’s command and miraculous promise, and now, when Jacob’s family had grown and could occupy the land, they were leaving.  Yet Jacob listened and followed God’s voice.

“I myself with go down with you to Egypt” (v4).  The loss of our dreams does not mean God has left us.  We may not understand the path, but we can trust and follow His voice.
