Psalm 18
/“You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great” (v35). David’s vision of God is both powerful and personal, “my rock and my fortress and my deliverer … in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (v2). This Rescuer didn’t stay up in heaven, distant from human struggles; instead, He “bowed the heavens and came down … He rescued me from my strong enemy” (v9-17).
“This God--his way is perfect … he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him” (v30). From Genesis to Revelation, God has revealed Himself as our “Deliverer.”
