John 3:11-21

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (v16).  Jesus declared that he, the Son, would be “lifted up” so that “whoever believes in him may have eternal life” (v15).  This means recognizing that Jesus is God’s light and truth shining in our world, and being willing to come into that light to receive forgiveness and new life (v19).  Those who refuse the Son are choosing to stay in darkness (v18-21).

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world …” (v17).  God loves the sinful world so much that He sent Jesus to save us from ourselves.
