1 Samuel 24

“May the LORD judge between me and you, may the LORD avenge me against you, but my hand shall not be against you” (v12).  David, innocent and yet attacked by a paranoid king, had the perfect opportunity to defend himself when Saul stumbled into the cave where David was hidden. Instead of seizing the moment against his enemy, David left vengeance to God. “My hand shall not be against you” (v12). David did not allow Saul’s actions to determine his own response.

“The Lord forbid that I should do this thing …” (v6). God is our standard and judge, not the behavior of other people. As we do what is right in His eyes, He will take care of us.
