Psalm 71

“But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more” (v14).  The psalmist called out to God “in the time of old age” (v9), just as he had done in his youth (v5).  His faith in God was not a single, crisis experience, but a relationship of “continually” drawing close to the Creator, the “rock of refuge” (v3).  His praise increased because he saw God’s “wondrous deeds” and kept experiencing God’s faithfulness (v17).

“So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation” (v18).  God’s faithfulness and love for us endures till death and into eternity.
