II Kings 11

“And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and people, that they should be the LORD's people, and also between the king and the people” (v17).  God had a plan to demonstrate His faithful love through His covenant with Israel.  As evil gripped the northern kingdom of Israel and Queen Athaliah murdered her own family and reigned for 6 years in Judah, it looked like the end. However, young prince Joash was rescued, and eventually, godly leadership was restored (v18-21).

“That they should be the Lord’s people” (v17).  God’s saving power is at work even when everything looks dark. His mercy and desire to save outweigh our sin.
