II Kings 19

"O LORD, the God of Israel … you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth” (v15).  King Hezekiah was unsettled by the threats of the messengers from the Assyrian Empire, who pointed out that the gods of other nations had failed to protect them (v10-11).  Yet Hezekiah stood firm in his belief that God “made heaven and earth” – He was not just Israel’s god, but the King of the whole earth, and He could protect His people.

“And shall you be delivered?” (v11).  Our enemy wants us to doubt God’s power and His love for us.  But we know that God is on our side, and He is always victorious.
