Romans 2:1-11
/“Do you suppose, O man--you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself--that you will escape the judgment of God?” (v3). Writing to a mixed audience of Jews and Gentiles in Rome, Paul reminded the Jews who were criticizing “pagans” that God sees the heart. God’s wrath would fall on people who judged others yet continued to walk in sin themselves (v5). Paul warned those who took God’s mercy for granted (v4); without real repentance, they would face God’s “righteous judgment” (v5).
“For God shows no partiality” (v11). God does not care what group we belong to – our culture, politics, or family. He desires real repentance and transformation of our hearts.
