Romans 2:12-29
/“While you preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery?” (v21-22). Paul continued to demolish the self-righteousness of the Jews who thought that having God’s law, knowing it, made them superior to others, even though they were themselves sinners. Their hypocrisy caused God’s named to be mocked among pagans (v24). “You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law” (v23).
“But a Jew is one inwardly” (v29). The mark of a follower of God is not how loudly we shout about sin, but how deeply we serve Him in humble, heart-level obedience.
